Case history: innovation and growth. Orlandi Ingranaggi invests in Comur technologies
Discover how Comur gear cutting machines support Orlandi Ingranaggi in complex production challenges, improving efficiency, flexibility and process control.
Orlandi Ingranaggi, a company specialized in the production of gears for gearboxes and mechanical transmissions, has strengthened its production department by investing in new Comur technologies.
The collaboration between Orlandi Ingranaggi and Comur responds to increasingly complex production requirements: variable batch sizes, strict dimensional tolerances, demanding applications and the need to ensure operational continuity on significant production volumes.
To meet these needs, the company has introduced new solutions for gear hobbing and shaping, including the EVO 400 hobbing machine, the DC 350 AV gear shaping machine with tilting table and the robot-assisted DK 200 RL hobbing machine.
These investments have enabled Orlandi Ingranaggi to increase production capacity, improve the management of medium-high production batches and expand the range of operations that can be carried out internally.
The robot-assisted DK 200 RL provides greater operational continuity thanks to its integrated quick workpiece change system, allowing the machine to remain in continuous production. It is designed to handle different geometries while maintaining stability, precision and repeatability.
The DC 350 AV with tilting table has allowed the company to bring back in-house operations that were previously more difficult to manage, particularly tapered gear shaping. This has expanded the company’s application range and strengthened its ability to act as a single supplier for more complex components.
The latest investment is the EVO 400, a new-generation hobbing machine developed by Comur. This machine can process gears up to module 10, with external diameters up to 500 mm in manual loading configuration and up to 300 mm in automated configuration. Its tilting hob head and extended working stroke make it possible to manage complex geometries and operations that previously required several separate phases.
Thanks to this technological evolution, Orlandi Ingranaggi can now handle more complex applications with greater efficiency, reducing downtime and improving overall control of the production cycle.
Quality control remains a key element of the process. With an annual production volume of more than 750,000 pieces, the company maintains high conformity standards through dedicated checks, machine-side inspections and specific gear measuring instruments.
The case history featured by Organi di Trasmissione highlights the value of a long-term technical partnership, in which Comur supports the customer not only with high-performance machines, but also with solutions designed to accompany production and organizational growth.
Orlandi Ingranaggi’s goal is not uncontrolled growth, but continued investment in technology, quality and organization in order to manage increasing complexity while maintaining process control, reliability and production continuity.
